The Driller Way
At BHS we have a school culture that focuses on living the Driller Way! Part of the Driller Way is learning to: "Behave with Honor and Service to others"!
Classroom Curriculum
My class is a self contained special education class for students with moderate to severe disabilities. I teach a curriculum that focuses on:
1. Functional Academics
2. Life Skills
3. Community Based Instruction
4. Social Skills
5. Specially Designed PE
6. Transitional Skills
If you would like to complete classroom work with your child at home, then homework packets are available upon request.

Expectations
In my class you will be expected to treat others with respect and kindness. I only have a few classroom rules but I expect those rules to be followed:
1. Keep your hands to yourself.
2. No foul or hurtful language.
3. No bullying of any kind.
BHS is a large campus with over 3000 students so we want you to feel safe and secure. Following the classroom rules creates a safe classroom environment.
Community Based Instruction
If you are able to follow the classroom rules, then you are ready for the exciting CBIs that I have planned. Community Based Instructional outings are off campus trips that allow me to teach appropriate social skills (and life skills) in a public setting. Generally, we will take these outings twice a month to: stores, local parks, the movies, restaurants, and even street safety walks in the downtown area.
Special Considerations
If your child has food allergies, specific health concerns, diet restrictions, or doctor's orders that must be followed at school, then please let me know! My classroom is one of the only classrooms on campus that has a changing room, changing table, and bathroom. Consequently, we can adequately meet the needs of any student who wears diapers, needs assistance in the bathroom, or is learning to use the restroom independently.
