Hello! My name is Ms. Chavez and I
would like to welcome you all to Bakersfield High School. I hope that the
2016-17 school year is an exciting one filled with learning, making new
friends, and finding out what the Driller Way is all about!
I have been teaching special education for
students with moderate to severe disabilities since 2002. I have an AA in
psychology from Bakersfield College, a BA in English from Cal State University
Bakersfield, and I earned my teaching credential from National University.
This year the projected enrollment of my class
is 15 students with moderate/severe disabilities. I have an incredible team of instructional
assistants: Ms. Letty, Mr. Robert, Ms. Sarah, and Ms. Liz, and an LVN named Ms.
Debbie assigned to my class this year!
I love teaching and look forward to coming to
school each day. I also love: Star Wars, Harry Potter, Marvel (or any superhero/comic
based) movies, going to festivals, and going to “Cons” (comic cons, collector
cons, etc.).
I have one daughter named Kylie Jane who is
four years old, and we love to travel! This summer we took a family cruise to
Alaska!
My daughter and I at the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery in Juneau, Alaska, on 7/3/2016.
